It's been only a few hours since then-Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, now Pope Leo XIV, walked out on the balcony. Yet, people are already waging ideological warfare, using him as a bludgeon against their political opponents, and creating propaganda to spread whatever message they want to hear about the new pope. I think that's sad. I also think it indicates the unfortunate state we find ourselves in today. No doubt he has said “based” things; he may also have said things we disagree with. He may have made mistakes in the past. I have no idea.
What I do know is that regardless of who is pope, the Church will go on. The pilgrim people of God will continue their journey on earth. Assuming Prevost—Leo XIV—is a man of sincere faith, which I have no reason to doubt, he will receive immense graces from our Heavenly Father on account of his election, and the Holy Spirit will move upon him in a special way.
What are we to do? We are to pray and hope. The Jubilee Year of Hope comes at an important time in the Church's life; it comes at a time when we pass from one Supreme Pontiff to the next. Let us all flee to Mary, Mother of the Church, and place our trust in her intercession on our behalf. We have nothing to fear, for our faith remains the same: Christ has died, Christ has risen, and Christ will come again.
Objectively correct take.
Exactly my thoughts, no matter who sits as Vicar of Christ, the Holy Mother Church will continue so long as there are faithful devotees around the world.
Holy Mother, Pray for Us.
